Robert F. Pavelka is a third generation native of Jacksonville, Florida. He is the grandson of the late J. H. Churchwell. A graduate of Loyola University in New Orleans, Robert lived and worked in New Orleans for approximately 9 years where he developed an appreciation for historic architecture, restoration of historic buildings, and the spirit of downtown living.

Upon his return to Jacksonville, he moved back to the Ortega area to raise his family. He continues to live there today. In 1981, he began his career with the J. H. Churchwell Company, a wholesale dry goods distributor, founded in 1911, located in the Churchwell Building at 301 East Bay Street in downtown Jacksonville. In 2004, Robert formed Pavelka Properties LLC with the intent of developing the Churchwell Building, which is on the Jacksonville Historic Register into authentic loft condominiums. Pursuing this endeavor, Robert worked diligently with many helpful city employees, departments and council men and women. Robert is a member and on the board of various charitable and social organizations. His passion is for the rebirth of a vibrant downtown Jacksonville. With great pleasure and pride he was able to restore and maintain the integrity of the Churchwell, circa 1904, into what he hopes will be a notable legacy for his family and the city for generations to come.
